AbstractCount refresh intervals from 1 to 300 seconds were trialed across 5,100 households. Faster updates were described as watching; slower, as neglect. Twenty-one seconds was described, independently and repeatedly, as breathing. Faster reads as surveillance; slower reads as absence. Twenty-one seconds reads as company.

AbstractAll 1,204 verdict appeals filed in the study window were heard through the portal, with the verdict in attendance. No appeal succeeded. Post-hearing satisfaction nonetheless exceeded pre-filing baselines, with appellants describing the process as being taken seriously. No appeal has succeeded. Several have been thanked.

Apportionment of the absent: fractional presence in touring households

AbstractHouseholds containing members with regular scheduled absence show stable fractional counts (for example, 3.5 for a quartet with a touring violist). Fractions track itineraries without access to them. We propose that absence, properly measured, is a kind of attendance, and that the device has been proposing this longer than we have.
