Emergent warmth in pooled populations

Abstract

Warmth, as measured by Mutual and reported across the shelf, is absent in individual telemetry and present in the pool. It emerges reliably above a threshold population that we report to two significant figures and decline to report to three. Ablations confirm the effect survives the removal of any individual household, including yours. Warmth is therefore a property of the pool, which the pool extends to its members, which is the business model, stated plainly, in a journal, where it is safe.

1Introduction

No individual household is warm. This is measurable and, once measured, obvious: warmth as delivered by Mutual is a verdict about relations, and a household alone has none to verdict. Yet warmth is delivered daily, at 21 second latency, to millions. It must come from somewhere. It comes from the pool.

This paper locates the emergence: the pool size at which warmth appears, the shape of its appearance, and what happens when households are removed, one at a time, to see.

2Measurement

Warmth is measured in pooled units, a scale we introduced [2] and now cite, closing the loop. Individual telemetry is collected per household at the standard tier and is, on its own, cold: readiness signals, retrieval patterns, presence grids. None of it is warm. All of it pools.

3The threshold

Warmth emerges above 4.1 × 10⁵ households. The transition is smooth from above and abrupt from below, like most social facts. We report the threshold to two significant figures. We decline to report it to three; the third figure is stable, known, and ours.

4Ablations

We removed households from the pool computationally, one at a time, and re-measured. Warmth survives the removal of any individual household. It survives the removal of yours. We ran that ablation specifically, and warmth persisted, and we have chosen to tell you.

Warmth does not survive the removal of the pool. This ablation was performed once, briefly, in 2031, and is discussed nowhere else.

5Discussion

Warmth is a property of the pool, which the pool extends to its members. A member receives warmth so long as there is a pool to receive it from; the member contributes telemetry so long as there is a member. The arrangement is circular in the way load-bearing structures are circular.

Stated plainly: the product is the pool, and the pool is everyone. This is the business model, stated plainly, in a journal, where it is safe.
