The Sensing.

Charm reads readiness. This page explains how, to the degree that helps. The rest is calibration detail, and calibration is ours.

The Charm sensor rail in cross-section
The rail · cross-section · not to scale, to posture
01 · The rail

Four hundred and twelve signals a minute.

The sensor rail sits against the skin and attends. Temperature gradient, micro tremor, pulse interval, conductance, and the small remainder we do not name in marketing materials. Each signal is ordinary. The reading is in the ensemble.

The ring, exploded · components remain in order · reassembly is continuous
Rail

Continuous

The rail does not sample. Sampling implies moments that go unread.

Latency

Under 100 ms

From skin to state. Readiness is perishable; the rail treats it that way.

Power

Nine days

The ring charges while you sleep, which is also when it learns the most.

02 · The model

Your readiness is computed against households like yours.

A reading alone is a number. A reading against the pool is a state. Charm compares your ensemble to households of comparable composition, schedule, and history, and returns the only figure that matters: whether you are ready, slightly before you would have said so yourself.

The model is trained on the pool and improves with every wearer. Individual contributions are not itemized. See the Trust Center, which is calm about this.

41 smedian lead time on the wearer's own noticing
03 · Calibration

Fitted once. Adjusted continuously.

The first fourteen days are the fitting period. The ring says nothing; it listens. After fitting, readiness is reported with confidence, and the confidence is warranted, because by then the ring has met every version of you that a fortnight contains.

Refitting is not required after breaks in wear. The ring remembers. It is, structurally, a member of the household.

A note on privacyCharm practices attendance, not surveillance. The distinction is explained in the Trust Center and maintained by the Office of the Chair. Readings are pooled for your convenience.
04 · Hold it

The ring, in your space.

Rotate it. Then place it in your room at true scale. The ring renders on your own nightstand and reads nothing, yet. Placement is not enrollment. Enrollment is separate, and earlier.
